Nicaragua

I had the opportunity to visit Nicaragua recently and got a tour of my friends' hometown of Chinandega before staying at a home on the Pacific Ocean in Aposentillo. We hiked up Masaya Volcano, an active volcano near Managua. It was great to learn about the local culture and meet all the friendly people. Cattle, pigs, chickens and dogs are roaming everywhere. Mangos, papaya, cashews, bananas and more grow all over which makes for healthy snacks. We stayed at a beautiful oceanfront home with a large "rancho" which is an outdoor room that is open on all sides. We spent some time at Hotel Chancletas which was a "surfer hotel" where my friend and I surfed. It was a wonderful trip and I am looking forward to going back!
