Owls Are A Hoot!

Ok, bad joke but great experience! I spent a couple of days near Fort Lauderdale and a friend suggested I go to Brian Piccolo Park in Hollywood to photograph the Burrowing Owls. What the heck is a burrowing owl you ask? Well apparently these little guys (and girls) live in holes they burrow in the ground. The park has roped off their "homes" but you can still get as close as 10 feet to them. They just sit on the ground looking around at every little noise. This is the only birding photography I enjoyed. The birds are relatively still and you don't need a 500 mm lens to get a decent shot. Plus they are cute with their bright yellow eyes!
